Schedule Adjustments Announced as Needmore Looms Ahead

Schedule Adjustments Announced as Needmore Looms Ahead

ADAIRSVILLE, Ga. — The Newsome Raceway Parts-sponsored Crate Racin’ USA Dirt Late Model Series will be appearing May 8, 2021, at Needmore Speedway in Norman Park, Ga., where a $10,000 first-place prize awaits the winner of the second edition of the Gene Maine Memorial at the 3/8-mile oval.

Drivers are set to converge on the Kelly and Mandy Walker-owned track, which is promoted by Chance Smith. The one-day show (with a practice session scheduled Fri., May 7), is expected to draw a stout field to the well-kept facility.

The race will honor the late driver of the familiar No. 201 machine, which Maine drove on a regular basis at tracks in the Florida/Georgia region. He was the 1997 series champion on the Ray Miller-promoted National Late Model Series.

The event is the Adairsville, Ga-based organization’s third race of the season, and is also part of the first-year E-Z-GO $100,000+ Challenge, a collection of 10 events that each pay at least $10,000 to the winner, and offers a separate points fund to competitors.

The prestigious race will be broadcast live, and will be available on www.crateracinusa.tv, and will include all divisions on the night's card of events. It will also be available on demand to subscribers.

Information about the event can be found at www.raceneedmorespeedway.com.

More Series Dates Added
That schedule addition heads a series of changes and adjustments that has resulted in a 25-race slate, which ends with the final race of the season set to happen Nov. 19-20 with the second annual Deep South 100 at Deep South Speedway in Loxley, Ala.

While series and track officials are still searching for a suitable date for the annual Rumble on the Gumbo, which was twice rained out in April at Greenville (Miss.) Speedway, a June 5 date at Senoia (Ga.) Raceway has been added to the slate at the 3/8-mile facility, which is now under the direction of the Pollard family.

Most recently, the Harvey Jones Memorial at All-Tech Raceway in Ellisville, Fla., was also tacked on to the touring circuit’s schedule May 28-29, and will replace on that holiday weekend a previous doubleheader scheduled at Tri-County Speedway in Flomaton, Ala.

The twin events at Tri-County will still remain part of the series, but those have been moved to Oct. 8-9 to avoid schedule conflicts with other races in the region.
