Salute to America Nationals Grows to 3-Day Event with Addition of Clarksville Speedway July 2nd

Adairsville, GA – Officials with the Newsome Raceway Parts Crate Racin’ USA Dirt Late Model Touring Series have added an additional stop to the Annual “Salute to America Nationals” schedule that takes place during the Independence Day/July 4th holiday weekend. The weekend will now start with a $2,000 to win, 40 lap event on Thursday night July 2nd at Clarksville Speedway in Clarksville, TN. The addition of the Thursday night Clarksville stop now makes the weekend a 3-night celebration of America’s Independence joining the previously scheduled Friday night July 3rd $2,500 to win event at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL and the Saturday night July 4th $2,500 to win event at Cochran Motor Speedway in Cochran, GA.

The series will make its first appearance in several years at the Clarksville, TN oval promoted by William Scogin, that is also home to a drap strip, fairgrounds, and drift park on the property situated just on the edge of town. “We are excited to be making a return to Clarksville Speedway. With the addition of the Weekly (604) Late Models at Clarksville Speedway to our sanction in 2020, this will give the local and regional drivers in the area as well as the Touring Drivers a chance to run for additional money at a track that many of the Touring regulars have never seen,” stated Crate Racin’ USA Series Director Adam Stewart. “With the July 4th holiday falling on a Saturday many folks are going to get the Friday off as a holiday, so we appreciate William picking up the Thursday night event and hope to have a great show to kick off an awesome weekend of racing to celebrate America.”

The three “Salute to America Nationals” races will serve as rounds 5, 6, and 7 of the 2020 Touring Series schedule. After three events in 2020, Cody Overton of Evans, GA is sitting atop the point standings after picking up one win and strong runs across the first three events. The most recent winner on the Tour, Cruz Skinner of Oxford, AL, is just 10 points back in second after taking the win at Tri-County Speedway in Flomaton, AL. Parker Martin of Milledgeville, GA currently sits third in the standings followed by Wil Herring of Hawkinsville, GA and Jody Knowles of Tyron, GA rounding out the top five. Drivers just outside the top five early in the season are setting up their charge lead by sixth in points Corey Dunn of Milledgeville, GA; TJ Brittain sits 7th currently after a tough break at the Tri-County stop and will look to rebound as he chases the Championship trophy; Jacksonville, FL Rookie Contender Trynt Lloyd holds the 8th position followed by Shannon, MS “Ninja” Marcus Minga in 9th and Temple, GA’s Troy Dixon rounding out the top 10. Cruise with the Champions Rookie contender Ryan Boudreaux from Louisiana will be looking to claim his spot in the top 10 as well.
Gates will open at Clarksville at 4 P.M. with Tech and Registration at 4:30 P.M. Driver's Meeting is tentatively set for 6 P.M. with Racing at 7:30. Competitors and fans can stay tuned to social media accounts and the official website for the latest details. Competitors are also encouraged to claim and complete their profile on the MyRacePass app for better representation and marketing inside the app. The series will also be sending out Text Message alerts leading up to the event and remind everyone that the series is able to be reached via phone or text at 678-719-8888.
