Hedgecock Sweeps Red Farmer Tribute Weekend at Talladega

Hedgecock Sweeps Red Farmer Tribute Weekend at Talladega

(Talladega, AL – October 5, 2024) – The Rogers-Dabbs Performance Crate Racin’ USA Dirt Late Model Series witnessed a dominant performance by Cory Hedgecock as he swept the Red Farmer Tribute Weekend at Talladega Short Track for the second consecutive year. Hedgecock led all 60 laps on night two to claim his fifth straight series victory at the historic Alabama venue, a streak that dates back to the spring of 2023.

Hedgecock, from Loudon, TN, started on the pole and quickly set the pace, holding off several strong challenges throughout the race. Despite a late-race surge from Randy Weaver of Crossville, TN, who made a valiant charge in the closing laps, Hedgecock was able to maintain his lead and secure the win.

The victory marks Hedgecock’s 23rd career win in the Crate Racin’ USA Dirt Late Model Series, moving him within just six wins of the all-time series win leader, Ronnie Johnson, who holds 29 career victories.

Hedgecock claimed the Stakt Products by CV Racing Products Fastest Qualifier honors for the second night in a row, turning in an impressive 14.007 in Group A. Meanwhile, Randy Weaver from Crossville, TN, set the pace in Group B, clocking a 14.022. Also securing spots through qualifying were Jimmy Thomas, Bubba Roling, Wil Herrington, David Kay, Tyler Millwood, Matt Dooley, Cody Haskins, and Jake Rainey.

In Rogers-Dabbs Chevrolet B-Main #1, hometown driver Josh Adkins of Talladega, AL, held off a strong challenge from Jason Welshan to secure the victory and lock himself into the main event. In B-Main #2, 2019 series champion Jake Knowles was the class of the field, cruising to a comfortable win over Matt Henderson. Knowles displayed why he’s a former champion, controlling the race from start to finish to earn his spot in the main event. Josh Ray, Chip Brindle, Adam Gauldin, Bryson Mitchell, Ty Giles, Mario Gresham, Austin Franklin, and Jaxon Bishop all secured their spots in the main event through the two B-Mains
