Cory Hedgecock Dominates in Jerry Goodwin Challenge at Talladega Short Track

(Eastaboga, AL - October 4, 2024) – Cory Hedgecock extended his Rogers-Dabbs Performance Parts Crate Racin' USA Dirt Late Model Series dominance at the Talladega Short Track, leading flag-to-flag to capture the victory in the 37-lap Jerry Goodwin Challenge feature event.

Hedgecock, from Loudon, Tennessee, delivered a commanding performance, claiming his fourth consecutive win at the legendary oval, dating back to 2023 when he won three straight, including a sweep of the Red Farmer Tribute weekend last year. His victory on Friday night at Talladega continued his impressive run, crossing the finish line a whopping 6 seconds ahead of the competition.

Jake Rainey fought hard to finish in the runner-up position, while Bubba Roling came home in third to complete the podium. The race saw Hedgecock set the pace from the drop of the green flag, never relinquishing his lead at the Talladega Short Track.

Cory Hedgecock from Loudon, TN, laid down the fastest time in the Stakt Product by CV Racing Products Time Trials, clocking in at a blistering 13.940 during Group A. That time would stand as the overall quickest of the session, placing him ahead of the Group B fastest qualifier, Jason Lively, who posted a solid 14.040.

Other drivers who secured their spots through qualifying included Jimmy Thomas, Logan Palmer, Marty Massey, Will Roland, Jake Rainey, Wil Herrington, Austin Horton, and Bubba Roling. With the top qualifiers locked in.

Three Roger-Dabbs Chevrolet B-Mains determined the final spots for the main event. Deisel Jones from Alabaster, Alabama claimed the victory in B-Main 1, while Mario Gresham, who entered the weekend second in points, took the win in B-Main 2. The final B-Main win went to Randy Weaver, who emerged victorious in B-Main 3 after winning at East Alabama last time out. With those three securing their feature positions, the lineup for the main event was complete with nine other drivers coming from the B-Mains.

The series will return to action tomorrow night at the Talladega Short Track for a $6,000 to-win main event along with the Hunt the Front Super Dirt Series, CRUSA Late Model Sportsman, CRUSA Modifieds, and Factory Stocks. Gates open at 3pm with racing getting underway at 6pm. Join us live at the track or watch live on Hunt the Front TV or Crate Racin' USA TV.
