Waynesville, GA - Golden Isles Speedway and Crate Racin' USA officials are once again faced with unfavorable weather conditions heading into a big weekend of racing, and have made the difficult decision to cancel the 2023 Showdown on the Coast for the Crate Racin' USA Dirt Late Model Series.
"With heavy rains overnight, and more forecasted the next couple of days, we have to consider the travel for teams and financial responsibility the track takes on with a large scale event", stated Crate Racin' USA Series Director Adam Stewart. "The track needs both days, and our competitors need to be able to feel confident that we have a good chance to get the complete show in, and the weather is just not favorable to guarantee that."
Track officials with Golden Isles Speedway will be closely monitoring the weather the next couple of days, and will update with their decision to postpone or cancel the entire event, or possibly race an event for their local competitors.
Crate Racin' USA Touring stars now set their sights on one of the most coveted races of the season, the Powell Family Memorial at All-Tech Raceway in Lake City, FL. The 28th running of the event will pay $28,000 to the winner, making it the largest paying event for Crate Late Model competitors, all while honoring a great racing family. It all kicks off on Thursday October 19th with Open Practice, followed by Qualifying and Heat Races on Friday October 20th, and B-Mains and $28,000 to win wrap the weekend up on Saturday October 21st.
