Golden Isles Visit Restructured to One-Day Show

Golden Isles Visit Restructured to One-Day Show

EASTABOGA, Ala. (July 28) — Due to saturated grounds and persistent rain that has fallen much of the day at Golden Isles Speedway, series and track officials have elected to restructure the weekend’s racing schedule for the Newsome/Raceway Parts Network Crate Racin’ USA Dirt Late Model Series.

All Friday night activities at the facility have been canceled, and the $10,000-to-win race will now pay $5,000 to win, and be staged as a one-day show on Sat., July 29. The joint decision was made by series director Adam Stewart and new track manager Steve Stevenson.

“It’s unfortunate that the weather has made this decision necessary, because we were all looking forward to having a $10,000-to-win event at this well-kept facility under its new ownership with promoter Steve Stevenson at the helm,” Stewart said. “Our competitors were going to have a chance to race for a great purse, but Mother Nature had other ideas and there’s not much we can do about inclement weather. We worked closely with the track’s management, and we feel the best decision we can make under the circumstances is to pay our standard $5,000-to-win purse and make this a one-day event.”

All gate times and schedules will remain the same for Saturday night’s program, with the exception that hot laps have been moved up to 5 p.m. For fans who might not be able to make it to the racetrack, the event will still be shown live on Crate Racin’ USA TV. You can access a subscription to watch the live-streamed event via pay-per-view at www.crateracinusa.tv on the internet.

“We have many of our competitors on the road already, and some of them did participate in a practice session last night at the track, so we really wanted to go forward with the whole weekend the way we had it planned,” Stewart said. “It’s just not possible with the situation we have. This rain wasn’t expected, but it’s here and you have to make the best decision you can under the circumstances. For all of us, we felt it’s best to still have a race that pays $5,000 to the winner, and salvage what we can from the weekend.”

The stars and cars of the Eastaboga, Ala-based touring series will be joined on the racing card by 602 Late Models, Street Stocks, Crown Vic, Enduro, 3/4 Mods and Super Streets.
